THE FARM

BIRKDALE FARM
Set in the beautiful Howardian Hills National Landscape

THE FARM

A 300 acre working family farm in the heart of the Howardian Hills National Landscape where arable crops are grown, 150 breeding NZ Romney sheep graze species rich grassland and a Countryside Stewardship agreement helps us to support rare and stunning arable plants, wildflowers, moths, butterflies, farmland birds, and protect soil and water.

FARM ACTIVITY

There is always something going on on the farm, from lambing and shearing to bird and moth surveys and harvesting the crops. We welcome visitors and hold regular events.

THE ENVIRONMENT

Farming with regenerative principles, direct drilling winter wheat with a herbal ley break crop, weaving sheep back into the rotation, utilising beneficial insects to cut out pesticide use, embracing Mid Tier Countryside Stewardship and SFI, encouraging our rare arable plants and supporting a huge range of wildflowers, 18 recorded species of dragonfly and 10 species of bat, glorious hedges supporting a huge range of bird species.........

INNOVATION

We are farming at Birkdale using regenerative principles, putting livestock firmly back into the rotation with positive results.
